Geoff Villacis
Physiotherapist & Exercise Physiologist — Mooloolaba & Nambour- Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy — P.U.C.E. University, Ecuador (2013)
- Master of Exercise Physiology — University of Sydney (2017)
- Diploma in Sports Rehabilitation — Argentina Football Association
- Vestibular Physiotherapy certification
Geoff is one of a small number of practitioners in Australia who holds dual registration as both a physiotherapist and an exercise physiologist. In practice, this means he draws on clinical manual therapy when structures need direct treatment and integrates exercise physiology principles when building the long-term strength and conditioning that keeps patients out of pain — not as two separate disciplines, but as a unified approach to how the body moves and adapts.
His physiotherapy career began in private practice in Ecuador, where he focused on manual therapy for musculoskeletal injuries and chronic conditions. After completing his Masters in Exercise Physiology at the University of Sydney in 2017, he began incorporating progressive strength protocols into his rehabilitation programs in a way that most physiotherapy training alone does not equip practitioners to do.
Geoff’s sporting background is extensive. His work has taken him courtside and fairway-side with ATP and PGA tour athletes, into professional rugby environments, and to Ironman event medical teams. Alongside elite sport, he manages everyday presentations — the patient recovering from a disc injury who just wants to get back to walking the dog, and everyone in between.
He also holds certification in vestibular physiotherapy and assesses and manages dizziness, vertigo and BPPV at both the Mooloolaba and Nambour clinics.
Nicky Suckle
Physiotherapist — Mooloolaba & Nambour- BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy — Glasgow Caledonian University, UK (2003)
- Masters in Physiotherapy
- Masters in Veterinary Physiotherapy — The London Veterinary College (2009)
- Pilates Qualification
- Dry Needling Qualification
Nicky brings over two decades of clinical experience to the team — a career that has spanned NHS hospital orthopaedics in the UK, private sports physiotherapy, and an unusual chapter that sets her apart from almost any other practitioner you will meet: a Masters in Veterinary Physiotherapy from The London Veterinary College, where she treated competitive horses, dogs and other animals alongside the same musculoskeletal principles that apply to human patients. Nicky continues to offer animal physiotherapy services through animalphysiotherapist.com.au.
She graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2003 and began her career in hospital orthopaedics before establishing a private clinic focused on sports injuries. The decision to pursue veterinary physiotherapy in 2009 was driven by a curiosity about movement that was not bounded by species — and the rigour of applying physiotherapy principles to patients who cannot describe their symptoms turned out to sharpen her clinical observation skills considerably.
At Absolute Health, Nicky describes herself as a hands-on musculoskeletal physiotherapist. She uses manual therapy as the foundation of treatment — getting her hands on the restricted joints and overloaded soft tissues first — and builds exercise rehabilitation on top of that base. She works within the multidisciplinary model that defines the clinic, collaborating with the chiropractic team on cases that benefit from both disciplines.
Zach Bastien
Physiotherapist & Vestibular Specialist — Mooloolaba & Nambour- Bachelor of Science (Sports Science)
- Master of Physiotherapy — Brunel University, London, England (2023)
Zach trained at Brunel University in London — one of the UK’s leading physiotherapy programs — graduating with a Masters in Physiotherapy in 2023. His background in sports science gave him a movement-analysis foundation before he added clinical physiotherapy training on top of it, which shapes how he approaches assessment: he is looking at how the whole person moves, not just which joint is reported as painful.
His clinical experience since graduating has been deliberately varied. He worked with professional soccer players in England, managing acute and chronic sporting injuries at club level. He also spent time in community physiotherapy working with post-stroke patients — a context where the demands on assessment skill and patient communication are entirely different from elite sport, and where he developed patience and precision in equal measure.
Zach is a vestibular physiotherapist and manages dizziness, vertigo, BPPV and balance disorders at our Mooloolaba clinic. Originally from Ontario, Canada, he has been based on the Sunshine Coast for the past two years. Outside the clinic he trains CrossFit, plays soccer, surfs and hikes — he is a practitioner who genuinely understands the athlete mindset because he lives it.
Ben Clixby
Sports & Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist — Mooloolaba & Nambour- Bachelor of Physiotherapy — University of Otago, New Zealand (2022)
Ben completed his physiotherapy degree at the University of Otago in 2022 — one of the Southern Hemisphere’s most respected physiotherapy schools, known for producing graduates with strong manual therapy and clinical reasoning foundations. After graduating, he worked in a busy private practice in southern New Zealand, where he managed the full spectrum of musculoskeletal presentations: acute sporting injuries, workers’ compensation cases, chronic pain presentations, and post-surgical rehabilitation.
His clinical approach is grounded in the combination that the research consistently supports: hands-on manual therapy to address the joint and soft tissue restrictions that are generating symptoms, combined with a specific and progressive exercise program to restore movement quality and prevent recurrence. He takes time to understand what each patient is actually trying to get back to — whether that is competitive sport, comfortable sleep, or a job that requires physical capacity — and designs the rehabilitation program around that goal.
Ben sees patients across a range of presentations including chronic neck pain and headaches, lower back and disc injuries, shoulder and knee conditions, and sports-related soft tissue injuries. Outside clinical work he plays guitar and football, and has a particular appreciation for the role physical activity plays in mental health as well as physical function.
Gemma Cannon-Reilly
Sports & Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist — Nambour- Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy (Honours) — Central Queensland University (2023)
- Master of Physiotherapy
Gemma holds both an Honours Bachelor of Physiotherapy and a Master of Physiotherapy from Central Queensland University, making her one of the most academically prepared graduates on the team. Her postgraduate training deepened her clinical reasoning and introduced her to the evidence base for physiotherapy practice in a way that shapes how she evaluates and manages complex presentations.
Her early career has been deliberately broad. She has worked in both clinic-based private practice and home-based settings, which exposed her to presentations that stay within four walls and to the more challenging context of treating patients in their home environment — where you have to be resourceful, the equipment is whatever the patient has available, and the goals are necessarily functional and practical.
Her clinical interests span sports tendon injuries — a technically demanding area that requires precise loading progressions rather than simply resting the tendon — through to post-surgical rehabilitation and neurological conditions. She has experience in hydrotherapy and uses it where appropriate as a medium for early rehabilitation when land-based loading is not yet tolerated.
Gemma is based at the Nambour clinic. She is a strong believer in patient empowerment — her goal is for patients to understand what is happening in their body and to be active participants in their own recovery, not passive recipients of treatment.
Sofia Rizzo
Sports & Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist — Mooloolaba & Nambour- Bachelor of Physiotherapy — University of Buenos Aires (2019)
Sofia graduated from the University of Buenos Aires in 2019 and brings over six years of clinical experience to the team — built across two countries and two very different healthcare systems. She practiced in Argentina following graduation before relocating to Germany, where she worked in a European private practice environment that demanded clinical precision and a high standard of exercise-based rehabilitation.
That international background gives Sofia a perspective on physiotherapy practice that is broader than practitioners who have only trained and worked in one system. Different training cultures emphasise different things: the Latin American tradition tends toward detailed manual therapy and movement analysis; the German clinical environment places significant emphasis on active exercise prescription and functional outcomes. Sofia draws from both.
Her clinical interests include musculoskeletal conditions across all body regions, sports-related soft tissue injuries, and chronic pain presentations. She enjoys working with both active patients pursuing sporting goals and older patients working toward independence and daily function — the approaches differ considerably, but the underlying principle of building genuine capacity rather than managing symptoms is the same.
She brings warmth and genuine patient connection to her appointments — an approach that is not incidental to good physiotherapy but integral to it, particularly for patients managing conditions that have already frustrated multiple previous treatment attempts.
